Active families in Brasov Mountains

Trekking. Crai. Families

At the beginning of July, we organized a series of outdoor activities for families with children in the mountains of Braşov – Zarnesti area, about which we wrote a beautiful guide book – lovely mountains accessible regardless of the weather conditions.

Of course, we avoided the classical, popular and crowded objectives such as Râşnov Fortress, Bran Castle or Zarnesti Bear Reserve, trying to discover together with our “guests” unusual places and far from tourist crowds.

Hiking on “hidden” trails, rock climbing both children and parents or even lonely ones (the brave!), mountain biking, explorations in the underground darkness and plenty of other collateral activities that have made the delights of the big and small ones.

For more about our activities please ask us directly.

Brasov area. Family outdoor activities

Between July 05-08th, 2018 we organize a series of outdoor activities days, specially dedicated to children and parents, equally.

Location: Zarnesti, Braşov area , 3 hours by car from Bucharest.

For reasons of safety and environmental impact (ecotourism), all our activities in nature are organized in relatively small groups, focusing on the quality of experience and not quantity.

Our activities are addressed to families with one or more children in one of the age groups:

– 6 to 9 years inclusive;

– between 10 and 12 years inclusive;

For other situations, please contact us directly.

The proposed activities are addressed to active families who want to do together (parents + children!), something more than just walking around the classical objectives in the Brasov area, such as castles and churches.

In addition to various hikes in the mountains, we will do many other interesting activities in nature that involve some physical and adrenaline such as:

  • rock climbing,
  • caving (caves exploration);
  • cycling on roads without traffic (traffic free);
  • night walking;
  • orienteering in nature with map and compass;

All these activities are combined with other games in nature and practical activities such as astronomy, outdoor first aid and others, which are equally useful for children and adults.

Activities are adapted to children’s difficulty and endurance, which means that for adults should be relatively light. But parents and children should have at least an average physical condition in order to enjoy together the beauty of nature.

For the safety of participants during practical activities, all activities are organized and coordinated by Marian Anghel, mountain guide, international mountain leader and Austrian Uebungsleiter.

In addition, Marian Anghel is also the author of the only mountain walking guidebook in Braşov Mountains, especially dedicated to families with children and disabled persons.

For more information on these family activities, please contact us by email or phone.

Guidebook. Family walking in Brasov Mountains

Family walking. Guidebook”Family walking in Brașov Mountains” is the name of the latest guidebook wrote by Marian Anghel – mountain guide and owner of the ”Carpathian Trekking” agency.

Today, he is the president of Romanian Society of Mountain Guides and International Mountain Leaders (SGLM) and the director of the professional training school.

In 2006 he obtained a specialization in the Alps for mountain activities with children.

The purpose of the guidebook (both Romanian and English version) is to provide a tool for any person willing to enjoy the beautiful mountains around Brașov.

A collection of nearly 60 easy walking and hiking trails in six mountain groups, are waiting yo be discovered in Brașov mountains, all of them accessible to both adults and children.

Marian Anghel:

Marian Anghel”I included in the pages of this guidebook only those trails that deserve the attention and are suitable to be followed by families with children and people with limited mobility such as wheelchair users.

This guidebook is the result of the Nature without Barriers project. As a mountain guide and president of Romanian Society of Mountain Guides and International Mountain Leaders (SGLM) I was involved in this project, providing advice and technical expertise.”

Brașov is one of the few largest Romanian cities where you can actually start your mountain walk right from the main square!

The guidebook is available online, in some local bookshops and tourist information offices and of course, at the Mountain Guides office in Zărnești.

Feel free to ask us for more details about this guidebook!
